Indie spirit was alive and well yesterday as stars modestly arrived in the parking lot at Santa Monica Beach for the 2011 Film Independent Spirit Awards.
Big winners of the evening included Best Female Lead Natalie Portman for her work in “Black Swan”, Best Male Lead James Franco for “127 Hours”, Best Feature went to “Black Swan” and Best First Feature went to the understated Robert Duvall, Bill Murray and Sissy Spacek drama “Get Low”.
Among the stars who made their way past the waiting crowd of fans were winner James Franco, “Rabbit Hole” producer and actress Nicole Kidman, “The Kids are All Right” stars Mark Ruffalo and Annette Bening, all of which are nominated for awards at tonight’s Oscars!
Matt Damon might be up for every award under the sun for his role in Invictus, but that doesn’t mean he’s not working on other projects. Yesterday, he was in London filming scenes for his new movie, Hereafter, which is directed by Clint Eastwood. Maybe this project will land him another Oscar to add to his trophy collection?
Love Happens premiered at Mann’s Chinese Village last night, and sweet Jesus is Jennier Aniston’s dress cute. Naomi Watts better bust out her pencil and start taking notes, because this is how you do a red carpet premiere. Gorgeous! And how handsome is Aaron Eckhart? Sometimes I have trouble telling him apart from the lead actor from Hung, but I can totally tell the difference from these pictures. For the record, Aaron is way hotter than his doppelganger.
Stars Catherine Zeta-Jones and Aaron Eckhart attend the New York premiere of their new film No Reservations.
The film is a remake of a 2001 German movie called Mostly Martha and also stars “Little Miss Sunshine,” Abigail Breslin.
Zeta-Jones’ husband, Michael Douglas, believes the film will help show his wife’s softer side as she’s rumored to be quite the demanding diva, which both deny. She is quoted as saying: “There is a much shyer quality to me that people don’t usually see.”
No Reservations is scheduled for U.S. release on July 27.
Food Network’s most popular stars converge for the first-ever “Food Network Awards”. The Awards combined the fun of Food Network with the glamour of South Beach to make an entertaining off-beat awards ceremony unlike any other on television. Attendee’s included Academy Award winner Catherine Zeta-Jones and Golden Globe nominee Aaron Eckhart who presented awards during the ceremony.
Other Food Network star presenters included: Rachael Ray with husband, and Nigella Lawson. Jackie Gleason Theater of the Performing Arts, Miami Beach, FL.
