The highlight of the year for all horticulturist and indeed anyone who enjoys gardening or just looking at lovely plants and blooms all came together yesterday along with a slew of celebrities for the annual RHS Chelsea Flower Show.
Joan Collins, Sir Cliff Richard, Jerry Hall, Ricky Gervais and Michael Caine were amongst those who attended the opening day during this, the 99th year of the show. Despite the drought that England has been suffering, there was no shortage of stunning displays. In fact Gervais was overheard saying that he had shivers down his spine.
The Chelsea Flower Show is organised by the Royal Horticultural Society and runs from May 22-26.
Funny man Ricky Gervais kept a low profile yesterday as he left the studios of BBC Radio 1 despite just having done his part to help raise nearly $4 million for Comic Relief!
A day before Red Nose Friday Ricky, looking casual in a leather jacket and jeans, appeared on the special edition of Chris Moyles and Comedy Dave’s morning show that ran for a wild 52 hours.
The duo, whom Ricky chatted with during the Guinness World Record breaking broadcast, pulled off the stunt for Comic Relief…surely Ricky was happy to have been involved.
Self deprecation seems to have been the key act of the evening last night at Comedy Central’s Night Of Too Many Stars: An Overbooked Concert For Autism Education fundraiser.
With no one taking themselves too seriously comedians, actors and TV personalities including Olivia Munn, Ricky Gervais, Sarah Silverman, Tracy Morgan and Steve Carell walked the blue carpet while their contemporaries Robin Williams, Tina Fey and Jon Stewart were busy prepping for the concert backstage.
And while everyone was rather humble during the hilarious event, writer, comedian and actress Sarah Silverman made a glamorous splash in a ruffle-detailed cocktail dress that showed off her curves, a serious departure from her usual grunge style. Looking good Sarah!
The Invention of Lying had its big premiere yesterday at Grauman’s Chinese Theater, and when Jennifer Garner hit the red carpet she reminded everyone exactly why she’s an A-List celeb. The dress is cute, effortless and showcases her ridiculous body — I’d never guess she’s a mother of two!
Ricky Gervais, Rob Lowe and Matthew Perry were also there for the event. Ben Affleck was nowhere to be seen, however…wonder if there’s trouble in Paradise?
The Stand Up for Heroes event was this week, and all of the best comedians in the industry came out to pitch in. Plus, Bruce Springsteen was there. You can never go wrong with The Boss. Other attendees included Whoopi Goldberg, Regis Philbin (Reeeeeg!) and Ricky Gervais.
I love seeing celebrities putting their fame to good work.
