It was an A-list event for A-list celebrities today at the home of Joel Silver in Malibu. Among the guests at Silver’s annual Memorial Day party were Gwen Stefani with husband Gavin Rossdale and kids Kingston and Zuma, Sean Penn, Colin Farrell and a new female friend, “The Great Gatsby” star Tobey Maguire, Rob Lowe and Kate Beckinsale with husband Len Wiseman.
The stars sizzled on the red carpet at the premiere of “Gangster Squad” held at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre in Hollywood last night. Stars of the film and others walked the red carpet and included Emma Stone, who looked incredibly beautiful in a candy apple red dress. Other red carpet stunners included Ryan Gosling with his mom Donna, Sean Penn, Robert Patrick, Anthony Mackie, Josh Brolin and Giovanni Ribisi.
Sean Penn turned down a Vitamin Water offered by a fan yesterday at the Coachella Music and Arts Festival before grabbing some pizza and a soda.
Sean was at Coachella to announce a volunteer initiative encouraging young people to “take action.” An actor known for his political activism, Penn invited festival-goers to “be spontaneous” and join a cross-country bio-diesel bus caravan, dubbed The Dirty Hands Caravan, that leaves the Coachella campground today bound for New Orleans. “This is about volunteerism,” he said from the main stage, just before My Morning Jacket’s set. “Revolution is a young man’s job and you can be the revolution.”
Director Sean Penn and Emile Hirsch wowed crowds with Into the Wild at the Rome Film Festival. In the film, top student and athlete, Christpher McCandless (Hirsch), abandons his possessions, gives his entire $24,000 savings account to charity and hitchhiked to Alaska after graduating from Emory University to live in the wilderness. Along the way, he encounters a series of characters that shape his life.
