David Beckham Chooses Miami For His MLS Team

David Beckham along with Major League Soccer Commissioner Don Garber and Miami Mayor Gimenez announced today that he has exercised his option for an MLS expansion team and has chosen Miami the city to host his new club. Beckham’s XIX Entertainment management agency, which includes business partner and long-time friend Simon Fuller, will partner up with MLS and local officials to finalize a deal for a world-class soccer stadium.

“From the beginning of my career in England to today in Miami, my journey has always been driven by my incredible passion for the game,” said Beckham. “Miami is a vibrant, diverse community that thrives of the same type of energy that fuels the international appeal of soccer, and I look forward to a dedicated, long-term partnership with this dynamic city and Major League Soccer. My experience with the Galaxy is what convoked me that I wanted to one day own an MLS team and it is thrilling to now see that dream coming true.”

Beckham and his representatives plan to build a stadium for the new team and continue to have productive conversations with Mayor Gimenez and the Miami-Dade County Commission regarding a world-class stadium for the community of Miami. Beckham has pledged that he will not seek County or City funds for the contraction of the stadium.

Beckham and Fuller will finalize the remainder of the ownership group over the next several months. “I can remember so well my discussions with David back in 2007,” said Fuller. “The vision was for David to play in America and to help the sport that he loves to grow in popularity. It was central to our plans that one day David would own his own team. Here we are, February 2014 in Miami, the dream is now a reality and the commitment to grow the sport that he loves continues.”

Hollywood Breakup Trifecta

Three times is definitely not the charm this month in Hollywood.

On Friday double Grammy Award winning musician Ben Harper, 40, filed for divorce from 43-year-old actress Laura Dern after almost five years of marriage.  The couple who appeared to keep their private life out of public view have two children together and reportedly have been separated since the the beginning of this year…

Another couple that seemed solid as a rock, albeit a bit quirky, have announced they’re separated…actress Courteney Cox and actor David Arquette.  After releasing a joint statement yesterday proclaiming their commitment to each other as friends and loving parents to their young daughter Coco, today David went on an emotional rant live on the American radio talk show Howard Stern.  The couple will appear together in next year’s horror flick Scream 4.

And representing the pop world, diva Christina Aguilera and music exec hubby Jordan Bratman have reportedly been living apart for months now and are going through a separation after tying the knot five years ago this November.  The pair, who have a two-year-old son Max, met in 2002 while working on one of Aguilera’s albums.  Soon to be 30 Christina will see her debut film Burlesque hit cinemas on November 24th.

Wishing all the couples well…

Gooooo Lakers

The celebs came out in force to support their favorite team the LA Lakers last night.

Those included Sylvester Stallone and daughter Sistine, Megan Fox and boyfriend Brian Austin Green, Jessica Alba and husband Cash Warren.

David Arquette was also there and on a side note while at the game Arquette was reportedly knocked to the ground after he selflessly rushed to the aid of a security guard who was being attacked by an unruly fan!

In serious news…. the score……. the LA Lakers beat the Phoenix Suns 128-107.

David Arquette is Hot. Yup, I Said It.

David Arquette isn’t somebody that I normally spend a lot of time thinking about, but he’s kind of cute. Dare I say, hot even. He’s always picking these goofy and quirky roles that don’t showcase his sexy enough, and that’s a shame.

Take these pictures of him in Beverly Hills yesterday, for instance. As long as you don’t look at his shoes and pretend that his pants aren’t as baggy as they are (they’re dangerously close to being Hammer pants, let’s be honest), he looks like quite the stud muffin. The shirt fits him very well, his hairline is unquestionably solid and the 5 o’clock shadow is working for him.

The more I think about it, the more Courtney Cox needs to watch her back. If a few more photo sets like this come in, I might go after her man myself!

David Arquette Out And About

We spotted David Arquette out and about in the rain today in Beverly Hills. David seems to be becoming a bit of an older timer, no I’m not saying he is old… I am talking about his movies. He just finished Hamlet and now is about to start work on Ye Olde Times, a film about two rival Medieval shows who vie for supremacy in the world of Renaissance Faires, according to IMDB. Hmm, can’t wait!

Busy Day At The Four Seasons

It was a busy day at the Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills yesterday. Not only did we run into David Arquette who waved to photographers as he was leaving the hotel after a business meeting, but also Ben Affleck. Ben’s 2007 film, his directorial debut, Gone Baby Gone is due to be released on DVD February 12. The drama is based on a novel by Dennis Lehane and tells the story of two Boston detectives trying to find a missing child.

David Arquette and Courtney Cox had their Independence Day BBQ ruined by the Duff sisters’ party next door which drew a crowd of photographers to the beach. In an attempt to maintain privacy, the couple had throws placed along the balcony of their home.

Basket Case

David Arquette seems at a loss on a local basketball court. The scream star usually walks around with something over his head to avoid being photographed, so all the people and daylight and stuff must be pretty overwhelming for him.
