Matt Damon and Michael Douglas attended the photocall today for their movie “Behind the Candelabra” at the 66th Festival de Cannes. The film is a biopic about the life of Liberace in which Scott Thorson recounts his relationship with the flambouyant pianist and musician.
Matt Damon and Michael Douglas were spotted filming in Palm Springs yesterday. The pair are working on their new movie “Liberace: Behind the Candelabra, a biographical TV movie about the famous and flamboyant musician.
The movie was originally slated for 2008 but was postponed as Douglas, who plays Liberace, was diagnosed with throat cancer. Douglas has since been treated and is looking better day by day we are pleased to see!
The couple looked fresh faced, smiling for cameras and posing for photos while mingling amongst the other patrons of the arts and viewing the different pieces displayed at the exhibit.
Catherine kept things easy by wearing a multi-colored blouse with cream ankle length pants with cream oxfords and an ornate red flowered handbag.
The twosome had a chance to attend the exhibit a day before it’s official launch, one of the many benefits of being some of the most well respected artists in the world.
Actor Michael Douglas was honored at the Santa Barbara Film Festival where he was bestowed with the Kirk Douglas Award For Excellence in Film to honor his work and contributions in the film industry.
Celebrities, attendees and friends of Douglas gathered together in the Biltmore Four Seasons’ Coral Casino Ballroom including Michael Douglas and his wife Catherine Zeta-Jones, Danny Devito, Rhea Perlman, Annette Bening, Christopher Lloyd, Dennis Miller, Bo Derek, Ivan Reitman and Andy Davis.
Danny Devito introduced his longtime friend, Michael, to the crowd telling stories of how they met in college and when they began together.
Additionally, Douglas’ father and the person the award is named after, Kirk Douglas, had the honor of presenting the award to his very own son where he explained that he initially tried to deter his son from becoming an actor.
However, had Kirk successfully done that, he would never have had a chance to share this special moment with his super star actor progeny, Michael Douglas.
A stylish getaway indeed!
Catherine Zeta-Jones looked every bit the movie star she is in a snazzy fedora, tan jacket, pleated trousers, belt and Hermes handbag, all dolled up with hubby Michael Douglas in tow ready to leave their swank New York apartment for a mini break to celebrate Thanksgiving.
Michael, whose battle with throat cancer is apparently looking up, will reportedly renew his wedding vows with beautiful Catherine during an intimate ceremony on New Year’s Eve.
Hope they have a fun time out of the city!
Despite his recent cancer diagnosis, Michael Douglas proves the show must go on and was all smiles as he walked the carpet with his beautiful wife Catherine Zeta-Jones last night in New York for the premiere of “Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps”.
Douglas’ co-stars joined the red carpet including Susan Sarandon, Josh Brolin and Shia LaBeouf.
Despite his recent cancer diagnosis, dapper Michael Douglas smiled and waved at fans yesterday in NY as he left the studio following an interview on the “Late Show with David Letterman”.
During the interview the actor confirmed he has been diagnosed with stage four throat cancer and has completed the first week of an eight-week chemotherapy regimen. He added that this particular type of cancer is caused by alcohol and drinking.
Even so, the actor is optimistic, “The percentages are very good. I would hate to say, but right now, it looks like it should be 80 percent, and with certain hospitals and everything, it does improve.”
Our thoughts are with you!
Michael Douglas, along with his wife Catherine Zeta-Jones, Michael’s stepmother Anne Buydens and father, legendary actor Kirk Douglas, took to the red carpet in NY last night prior to Michael receiving this year’s Chaplin Award.
The award is part of the Film Society’s 37th Annual Chaplin Award gala. Brooke Shields and Tobey Maguire were also on hand while Micheal was honored.
Michael Douglas won the 37th annual Lifetime Achievement Award the other night — good for him — but the real star of the night was his wife, Catherine Zeta-Jones. She’s turning 40 later this year, but you’d never guess it. To quote one of my favorite movies of all time, To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything, Julie Newmar, here’s only one way to describe her: STATUESQUE.
Of course, other big names were there to help Mike (may I call you that?) celebrate, including Kirk Douglas and Anne Buydens, Matthew McConaughey and Camilla Alves, Melanie Griffith and Jesse Johnson and Tobey Maguire.
Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta Jones attended the openning of Kirk Douglas’s one man show, Before I Forget, last night at the Kirk Douglas Theatre in Los Angeles. I always forget that Michael Douglas comes from an acting family, mainly because he’s so talented himself. Maybe it runs in the DNA or something?
Katherine Heigl and Michael Douglas posed for photos last night as they left the “Late Night with David Letterman” studios in New York. Heigl is currently promoting her new film, 27 Dresses, which is due in US theaters on January 18. In the film, a young woman (Heigl), after serving as a bridesmaid 27 times, wrestles with the idea of standing by her sister’s side as her sibling marries the man she’s secretly in love with.
