This has been a crazy week for celebrities. On Friday, David and Victoria Beckham were involved in a car accident. David was driving the family Beamer through the streets of France when he lost control of the vehicle and ran into a wall. There was pretty extensive damage to the passenger side of the car, and the windshield was totally smashed. Fortunately, neither of them were seriously injured.
Right after the accident, David had to run to catch a plane to Beijing, where he was scheduled to carry the torch at the closing ceremonies. He left his wife standing by the car to handle everything! He’s going to have to buy a lot of expensive jewelry to make up for that, I’m sure.
In other celeb accident news, four members of Helena Bonham-Carter’s family died in a tragic car crash while on a South African safari. The actress has been granted indefinite leave from Terminator Salvation, the movie she’s been working on for a while.
Sadlly, there’s still more sad celeb news (although this one has a much better ending). The lead singer for the Barenaked Ladies, Ed Robertson, was involved in a plane crash just north of Bancroft, Canada. The plane was totaled, but somehow all four people in the crash were able to walk away without any serious injuries.
“Everyone is fine and that is the important thing,” said a spokesman for the band, Adam Smith. “That’s all the comment we have at this time.”
A spokesperson for the local police added a few more details, adding that “at 12:30 p.m. a Cessna 206 was taking off from Baptiste Lake, lost airspeed and entered a wooded area west of the lake.”
